Biography

Gina Medcalf, born in North Wales, lives and works in London. She graduated from the Central School of Art and Design in 1969. From 1973 to 1986 she lived, worked and exhibited in the USA. She was a Senior Lecturer at Kingston University from 1994 to 2006 and Associate Lecturer in Fine Art at UAL, Chelsea College of Art and Design until 2013.

Exhibitions include: Young Contemporaries 1969, Serpentine Painting ’73, Abstract Painting and Sculpture at Stockwell Depot 1986, John Moore’s 16 1989, Smith Jariwala Gallery 1990. 1991, Benjamin Rhodes Gallery 1994, Chelsea College of Art and Design Gallery 1999, British Abstract Painting, Flowers East 2001, Kapil Jariwala Gallery 2018. She received Pollock-Krasner Foundation Awards in 2008 and 2017 and an Abbey Fellowship in Painting at the British School at Rome 2015.
